Ranking the NFL Logos and Uniforms

You will just have to take my word that I am a heterosexual when I say have lots of strong opinions on the uniforms and logos of all sports. Particularly, the NFL. Here is how I rank each teams uniforms/logos, by division.

AFC EAST

1. NEW ENGLAND
The Patriot head logo is clean, fairly simple, but not too simple, and the colors are in an improvement from the old Patriot hiking the ball.

2. BUFFALO
Still second best in a weak division, but each helmet modification (from still buffalo to running buffalo, from white to red shells) has been a step down.

3. MIAMI
They should have an alternate helmet with the "M" that the dolphin on the current logo wears. Always hated the color scheme.

4. NEW YORK JETS
Jets and airplanes are cool. There's infinite cool logo possibilities incorporating a jet. So why don't you?

AFC NORTH

1. CINCINNATI
It's obvious to use tiger stripes if your nickname is tigers or bengals, but somehow only this team is smart enough to do it.

2. PITTSBURGH
The logo on just one side of the helmet, as well as the yellow lettering for the last names on the back of the jersey, are nice touches.

3. CLEVELAND
I wouldn't mess with tradition and put a logo on the helmet, but the cool orange dog head they sometimes paint in the end zones should be the "primary logo" they send to networks and websites.

4. BALTIMORE
Bluish-Purple together with black doesn't really "work." I do like the font of their jersey numbers.

AFC SOUTH

1. INDIANAPOLIS
Very clean, good shade of blue, and I think of them as the pre-eminent team of that pair of shoulder stripes several teams use (like Minnesota and colleges like Ole Miss) .

2. HOUSTON
Colors are boring, but the logo is the best one to come from an expansion franchise since at least the '60s.

3. TENNESSEE
Logo, colors, uniform - all get average marks across the board.

4. JACKSONVILLE
Another bad blue (technically teal)/black combination. I'd also love to know who thought the jaguar head should have realistic colors except for the tongue.

AFC WEST

1. SAN DIEGO
You can't go wrong with lightning bolts. You just can't.

2. KANSAS CITY
Average, but the interlocking K.C. in the end zone without the arrowhead is a nice, alternative touch.

3. OAKLAND
I know the logo and especially the colors are iconic, but they don't do much for me.

4. DENVER
Please go back to the John Elway-era uniforms and logo!

NFC EAST

1. NEW YORK GIANTS
If you want something traditional, this is the way to go. I like how there's only small bits of red, yet they do have red alternate jerseys.

2. WASHINGTON
I am surprised that more team don't use burgundy. Why not scrap the outer circle that surrounds the Indian head?

3. DALLAS
One year, they ought to make their navy jerseys their primary ones.

4. PHILADELPHIA
I liked their pre-'90s shade of green and wing shape better.

NFC NORTH

1. DETROIT
Love the shade of blue and the silhouette of the lion.

2. MINNESOTA
Decent ... there are not enough purple teams. Home jerseys very different from road jerseys, unlike most teams.

3. GREEN BAY
Belongs with Oakland in the iconic-but-boring category.

4. CHICAGO
Your mascot is a bear. A BEAR. USE IT!

NFC SOUTH

1. TAMPA BAY
This may be biased, but I think this is the best redesign of the last 20 years.

2. NEW ORLEANS
If the Saints were any good, the fleur-de-lis might be as iconic as the Cowboys' star.

3. ATLANTA
Would love for them to bring back the old falcon logo, the re-imagined one sucks.

4. CAROLINA
Nothing stands out to me.

NFC WEST

1. ST. LOUIS
Changing from regular gold to old gold was an excellent move.

2. ARIZONA
They had such a cool end zone a few years back, with the Arizona flag stretched out behind the centered cardinal head. I like the blood red.

3. SAN FRANCISCO
Wish they would return to the non-block numbers and lighter shade of red they had under Joe Montana.

4. SEATTLE
Man, that horizontal phallic bird-head is dumb. Almost as dumb as that shade of blue.

If you want to beat the NFL odds you can't just take the teams with the pretty uniforms, but you can beat the spreads with the knowledge and experience of the handicappers at BetFirms.

When the Patriots went to the silver helmets and pants with blue jerseys, my first response was “Where in the hell did they get those, the USFL close-out store?!” Having said that, they are an improvement, just not very much of one though.

This article is a hoot…the funniest part is that you’re serious about it…okay, now try ranking them without your biased opinions being the determining factor…better yet, dont make up a list like this at all when it’s obvious you dont really know that much about football…let me address some of your more ridiculous errors…

okay, os the Giants and colts uniforms are “classic” while the packers and raiders uniforms are “boring”???

If you werent a bandwaggon rider would you still love the Pats uniforms??? I mean I hate the pats, but even I will admit that the pat patriot logo was pretty cool, way cooler than that stupid flying elvis thing witht he dreadlocks or whatever that is comming out the back of its head.

Ummmmm the blue uniform is considered the cowboys official “home” jersey…you did know that right??? there’s a reason why they seldom wear them, I’d tell you, but I figure if you’ve got time to write such lame articles, you should surely have time to do your own homework…

You’re drawing comparrisons between the seahawks logo and a weiner??? So I guess anything that is long and narrow (even though it comes to a point on either end and has a bird face and stripes) looks like a dude’s junk to you??? hmmmm I guess we all know what you have on your mind…

Also if you knew anything about football, you’d know that the lions, niners, and jags are all changing their uniforms, so you probably should have waited to see what they rolled out before you decided to make such a stupid article…but hey, at least I got a good laugh out of you calling the buc’s uniforms “the best”…lol fool…nice try…

You preface these uniform rankings by assuring everyone that you’re heterosexual, then, you say not enough teams are wearing purple, and you have problems with Seattle’s phallic bird-head? Alright dude, you obviously have some issues that go way beyond your bad taste.

A better list:
AFC East
1. Miami Dolphins - Haven’t changed their colors since they came into the league.
2. New York Jets - Green and white just works.
3. Buffalo Bills - Standing buffalo alternates give it the edge over…
4. New England Patriots - Flying Elvis is ridiculous, the jerseys are jumbled, and what’s up with the light silver alternate?

AFC North
1. Pittsburgh Steelers - Perfection in a classic, and the yellow alternates are spot on.
2. Cleveland Browns - They do brown right.
3. Baltimore Ravens - Not great, but they’ve been consistent at least.
4. Cincinnati Bengals - Horrible, horrible, horrible. Color-contrast nameplate, jersey elements crushed, terrible pants, everything.

AFC South
1. Indianapolis Colts - White and blue. Wish the shoulder stripes went all the way around.
2. Houston Texans - Pretty solid, but that Battle Red can only be used as a jersey, not pants.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Expansion teal and gold works here. Just not that well.
4. Tennessee Titans - It’s never a good thing when you have a color-contrast yoke on a bad uniform to begin with.

AFC West
1. San Diego Chargers - The recent redesign incorporating more baby blue and updating the bolts was huge.
2. Oakland Raiders - Silver and black. Classic.
3. Kansas City Chiefs - Falling into the Chicago Bears category with the Lamar Hunt patch was nice.
4. Denver Broncos - A mess.

NFC East
1. Dallas Cowboys - Solid, practically unchanged. Thanksgiving alternates are a nice respite.
2. New York Giants - Big Blue lives up to its name…except on the road, where every element seems to be red.
3. Washington Redskins - In a strong uni division, burgundy and yellow falls in here.
4. Philadelphia Eagles - Not bad, but not that good either.

NFC North
1. Green Bay Packers - So iconic, that when management tried to change the yellow to gold, the outrage was beyond belief.
2. Chicago Bears - The orange alternate hurts, but otherwise blue and white with the trim and rounded numbers is perfect. Can’t beat the GSH interrupting the sleeve stripes.
3. Detroit Lions - The redesign made it all worse.
4. Minnesota Vikings - It’s bad enough when your base color is purple. It’s worse when you have a neck logo and your unis look like they came from the AFL.

NFC South
1. New Orleans Saints - Gold and black has been good to them over the years.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - I miss Bucco Bruce and the creamsicle, but pewter and red has been fine.
3. Carolina Panthers - Black and silver works in a more modern way, and the light blue ties it together.
4. Atlanta Falcons - A mess. But Matt Ryan and Michael Turner make it look better.

NFC West
1. San Francisco 49ers - In a weak uni division, the Niners are the best of the bunch.
2. St. Louis Rams - Keeping the ram helmet with the redesign was big. Not as big was changing all of the fonts.
3. Arizona Cardinals - The AFL strikes again, but not as bad.
4. Seattle Seahawks - Disaster.

LOL at the uniwatch geeks getting bent out of shape over someone writing about uniforms. Everyone is different, so why can’t we all have different taste?
Paul Lukas is really wearing thin with how he and his clique act about uniforms and the “rules” they need to follow. When one of them utter we don’t “get it” it’s more like they “forgot it”.

You obviously don’t Get It.

I get that a geeky liberal who wants to be a uniform nazi still has a few blind followers that haven’t yet found out he’s full of shit.

How’s the classifieds coming along? lol He’s become really annoying with crap like that. I don’t mind his opinions, but he seems to like to trash the opinions of others.

April 11, 2009

midwest_joe:

Interesting Dewyane, even though I’m trying to figure out what the hell you just said? In any case, nothing wrong with being a geek, yet, there is something wrong with someone having to assure us he’s not gay, just because he has an opinion about uniforms and logos. I mean, why should I care to hear about his sexual preferances, so, I don’t feel gay after reading what he wrote? Alright everyone Kevin Beane is NOT gay…..really, he’s NOT GAY, yet, he’s got very strong opinions on uniforms and logos.

This article is a joke.

david:

Yeah, this article sucks. Tradition should be admired in the case of the bears and packers. Be happy they arent running around in all one color uniforms with jagged, flashy logos. And the fact that you dont like the Dolphin’s color scheme kind of ruined all your opinions for me. They have the most distinct color combination in the NFL and could have the best uniforms as well. Next time \you write an article be prepared to spend a little more time on it than a one sentence analysis that may or may not analyze the uniforms.

April 11, 2009

USAfootball:

HAHA WOW. This is basically the opposite list. The Bills jersey is a complete joke. Pat Patriot was outstanding. The Cowboys should only wear white. You hate logos encased within shapes (Redskins, Chiefs). I’m surprised you don’t like the current Broncos look, it seems to be right up your alley of taste.

April 11, 2009

Nonya Businesss:

Seattle’s logo and colors rule. You stink at common sense.

April 11, 2009

R8RBOB:

RAIDERS, Packers….boring. I think not. This writers has Cincy uniforms above the Steelers. Got to give the writer of this post a zero for ranking the uniforms.

3243:

Three things the NFL needs to do about uniforms:

1. OUTLAW THE MONOCHROME UNIFORMS. The all-blue, all-black, all-green, etc. uniforms worn by some teams like Seattle, Buffalo, the Jets, etc. do not belong in the NFL. Let the high school, college, and Arena League teams wear that pollution—the NFL is supposed to be a cut above.

The NFL needs to go back to enforcing its 1956 rule that when teams wear their colored jerseys, the pants MAY NOT be the same color as their jerseys or darker than their colored jerseys.

2. Mandate that all teams wear at least one stripe or elongated insignia (e.g. the Chargers’ lightning bolt) down each side of their pants.

3. Limit each team to ONE home uniform (colored jersey, pants, socks combination), ONE road uniform (white jersey, pants, socks), and if they so desire, either ONE alternate (colored jersey, pants, socks combo) OR one throwback uniform. And teams are still allowed to wear their road uniforms at home.

My favorite NFL uniforms:
1. Oakland
2. San Diego
3. Pittsburgh
4. Indiannapolis
5. Green Bay
6. Chicago
7. Dallas
8. N.Y. Giants
9. N.Y. Jets (when they don’t wear the green pants)
10. Buffalo’s throwbacks

April 12, 2009

patriot:

This list sucks like a prom date. It’s almost like he looked at his uniform list and then typed them in upside down. Bengals above Steelers, HA! Flying Elvis over Pat Patriot, Double HA!! Packers and Raiders boring, but Texans logo is great, stop it you’re killing me!!!

Start writing about uniforms when you get a clue.

Ric Maher:

The American Fashion Conference:
1. Dolphins…most logical color scheme in all of sport w/aqua,coral and blue…wish they’d go aqua on aqua for all home night games.
2. Patriots…silver was an unnecessary addition years ago however I’d like to see the silver jersey w/ the silver pants and, even though it’s become common, an all blue look.
3. Bills…love the CFL style uniforms (seriously); helmet shell color should be nickel. They should synch w/ Sabres for a color scheme for Buffalo.
4. Jets…white helmet, white jersey, white pants, white socks…hmmmm, what color shoes should we wear? I do like the occasional green mono.
1. My Ravens…font and sleeve logo make this my fav jersey but I wish we’d lose the purple (‘cause I’m also a Vikes fan) and go with Maryland colors of black, gold, red, white.
2. Bengals…hey…I love the helmet but admit unis are a mess.
3. Steelers…hope they never change and wish they’d tell the Penguins to get back with the program re: shade of gold.
4. Browns…even w/o a helmet logo, they looked good when they wore orange pants w/ both white and brown jerseys. Now, they’ve gone white (pun intended) and ruined everything (pant striping, gray facemask, black shoes). We in Bmore stole the St. Louis Browns then the first Cleveland Browns. I may have to kidnap this team and take them shopping for a new wardrobe.
1. Titans…I like the mixing of the white, blue and navy jerseys and pants for 9 different looks. I know color scheme and logo style seem generic but they are appropriate for their home state.
2. Texans…same as above but with “Battle Red”. I love that! THIS team should have called themselves The 1836 and not wimped out like the Dynamo.
3. Jaguars…I haven’t seen the new dudes (and I too hope they lose the teal tongue) but they have to be better than…
4. Colts…hey guys…let’s go “old school” with the gray facemasks and black shoes (never mind the fact that even we Baltimorons ditched that look decades ago because it was retarded).
1. Chargers…perfection!
2. Broncos….as with the Bengals helmets, I am that one person in 100 who likes the modern look. But the previous logo and unis would have them as my number two in the west as well. Just don’t go back to that sickly horse logo and striped stockings or I’ll be forced to watch MLS matches on throwback dates.
3. Raiders…with so many teams going black and/or silver, I almost forgot how great these look even with block numbers and no jersey logos.
4. Chiefs…when I see them on the road with the red pants, they look so good…but then I think about how the helmet is red, white and black and the rest of their gear is red, white and gold and I go insane.

April 12, 2009

Ric Maher:

National Fashion Conference
1. Giants…I admit, sometimes classic is best and I love how the gray pants justify the unpainted facemask. I wish that they had showed Jersey some props with an NJ on one side of the helmet.
2. Redskins…I get their games in my market and root for them when they wear the burgundy pants. If I’m gay…then so are Michaels and Madden since they’ve discussed this issue at length.
3. Eagles…would be my faves if they’d go all green and since the logos and fonts are first class…but I still can’t get my head around WTF “midnight green” has to do with Eagles or America’s birthplace.
4. Cowboys…new stadium! yea!…now settle on one shade of blue and one tone of silver and tell your cheerleaders they come in last in the beauty pagaent.
1. Vikings…2nd best helmet logo and props to the AfricanAmerican players for not objecting to displaying the league’s best secondary logo. I thought that when the Vikes first went purple on purple in the 60s (due to a miscommunication with the Lions) they destroyed that whole fear of being gay issue.
2. Packers…A’s, Eskimos, the old North Stars, any team would look good in green and gold.
3. Lions…I liked the black jersey (although blue, black, silver is overused)…I miss the blue pants they wore maybe once. I’ve seen the new duds (spelled correctly this time…I guess I had dudes on my mind before…I must be gay!) and changes are so minor that perhaps they’re focusing on fixing this team so they’ll appear in a Super Bowl before I die. Only after they’ve assembled a winning team will I concern myself with side issues such as WhyTF does a franchise in Detroit wear Honolulu blue?
4. Bears…now that the Broncos have stolen their colors and the Steelers and Bengals have stolen their number font…and since it seems the Bears have ditched the navy pants …I see a boring team in a boring uni playing under a boring logo.
1. Buccaneers…IF…IF…IF they wear the pewter pants…otherwise, the helmet makes no sense. I do admit that I liked the Bruce logo and the tangerine pants…but then…I’m gay.
2. Panthers…the NHL fan in me hates that they grabbed this nickname…the Raider fan in me hates that they stole silver and black…the uniform fascist in me goes nuts thinking about their silver helmet when they go white on white…HOWEVER…they look good in all three of their getups.
3. Falcons…years ago, I was committed to an asylum because Atlanta had black/white/red jerseys yet the helmet was only black/white and, even crazier, their pants were SILVER. So when they updated the logo to include red and silver, I was released. Then…they ditched silver from everything except the logo. I am on medication now and rooting against them.
4. Saints…I know that Katrina and the loss of wetlands has changed the outline of the state but still…it’s LLLLLLLLouisiana!….Bring back the L shaped state outline logo that Bobby Hebert and the Cajuns wore! And lose the black pants so many other teams are wearing and stick with the unique old gold.
1. Rams…it’s “new century gold” and not a ripoff of the Saints for those who may question my use of the word unique above…and it’s “millennium blue”…aww, screw it…it’s freaking common blue and gold (and doesn’t even match the Blues) but I like the newer font and secondary logos and YOU MUST ADMIT that the Ram’s logo shall always be considered number one (God bless you Fred Gehrke for adding an element to our obsession with your sport). Lose the white and the blue pants and stick with gold.
2. 49ers…speaking of God on this Easter Sunday…I pray the Niners NOT do something stupid and go old school. I LIKE the shiny gold and love how all the team colors are featured on helmet/jersey/pants. They can go ahead and change the shade of red. But if they tamper with the gold….well, GO AHEAD…MAKE MY DAY. DO YOU FEEL LUCKY PUNKS? Speaking of lucky…I’d like to get with the hottest cheerleaders i the NFL who are on both sides of the bay!!
3. Seahawks…call me crazy, but I like the unusual shade blue monochrome. I even fell for UNIWATCH’s bright green jersey April Fool’s joke and was disappointed to read it was a prank. In general though (like when I see them in white on white) the logo and unis are pretty dull.
4. Cardinals…as with the Hawks…love them in colored monos…dislike them in all white. Never understood why they don’t use gold other than the logo beak. Paint the damn facemask!

Super Bowl (fashion) pick:
Chargers over Vikings

Mark Rabinowitz:

My critiques in no particular order:

AFC East
New England - I like numerals they use now (versus the numerals they used in the ’90s when they looked more like refugees from the World League of American Football). Don’t change a thing now that you’ve won three Super Bowls and almost won a fourth.
Miami - I liked how, in ‘97, they used navy blue to make the dolphin look meaner and more three-dimensional.
NY Jets - I wish they’d go back to the jerseys and helmets they wore back when Richard Todd was their QB. They switched away from the white helmets for a reason, folks—back in ‘78, ALL five teams in the AFC East had white helmets so you’d have a lot of QBs throwing passes to the wrong team. (The Bills and Patriots later followed suit.) Yes, I know that Bill Parcells ordered the change back to the ’60s unis because they won a Super Bowl in team and Parcells wanted the team to look and feel like a winner… but Parcells is long gone and so should these unis be.
Buffalo - Too many colors, and they look more like a CFL team than an NFL one. Too many stripes on the helmet, red shoulders on the road jersey, stripes on the sides of the jersey that don’t match the stripes on the sides of the pants… Just go back to the unis of the Jim Kelly era, except change the royal blue to navy blue, that might have worked.

AFC North
Pittsburgh - A great uniform, but I didn’t like the change in numerals. Go back to the old numerals from the ’70s and ’80s and put a frigging logo on the other side already!
Cleveland - They should have stuck with the unis from the Brian Sipe era (orange pants, white facemasks). And don’t ever wear orange jerseys again!
Baltimore - I like the unis. The helmets, no. I wish they would have used the alternate logo they had from 1996-98.
Cincinnati - Like Buffalo, a garish mess of elements that just don’t work. Step 1: Go back to the unis you were using before. Step 2: Ditch the orange for “burning bright” bronze. Step 3: Make the numerals more like the font used in the Bengals logotype used from ?? to ??.

AFC South
Indianapolis - The only issue I ever had with the Colts’ unis is that the city of Baltimore should have sued to keep them, along with the Colts’ colors and history (the way Cleveland would do with the Browns more than a decade later). The unis are just fine as they are.
Houston - I agree with Kevin, this logo is great (combining a bull’s head with the Texas flag—sheer genius). But I’d stick to navy at home and white on the road—no red, and especially no unitards (that’s what other people call “monochrome”).
Jacksonville - Another thing I agree with Kevin on is the teal tongue on the logo. Ridiculous. This team should work out an agreement with the Jaguar car company pronto whereupon they can agree on a logo that’s similar to the one they wanted to use back in ‘95. Another thing—the helmet should at least match either the jersey or the pants, and that’s something that sometimes doesn’t happen with the Jags (black helmet, teal jersey, white pants).
Tennessee - I like the “two-tone” treatments they’ve created (navy shoulders-light blue torso-navy pants and light blue shoulders-navy torso-light blue pants).

AFC West
San Diego - Why, oh why, did you go to white helmets? The new unis look great but (as with the Jets) the white helmets hearken back to an era when the old AFL teams didn’t have much money to work with so they bought white helmets instead of colored ones.
Denver - The logo was easy to get used to once Elway won two Super Bowls. The unis, not so much. I wonder what they’d look like if they simply took the ’80s unis, changed the orange jerseys to navy blue, and went with that.
Kansas City - Simple and I hope they don’t change a thing (except maybe wear gold pants at home).
Oakland - Don’t change a thing. These unis are perhaps all that is left of “the Raider mystique.”

NFC East
Dallas - Here’s a uniform Paul Lukas has picked on a lot. They don’t use the same silver in everything they use (hint to the ‘Boys: The bluish silver on the home pants is a lot better than the grayish one you use on the road pants—use it everywhere and ditch the other silvers you have).
Washington - This one is fine as long as you never wear burgundy unitards again.
NY Giants - Go back to what you wore when Bill Parcells coached you! Gray is ugly. Red jerseys are just as bad.
Philadelphia - I like these but I pine for the ones they wore back in the Ron Jaworski era.

NFC North
Detroit - You may have heard that the Lions are changing their logo and tweaking their jerseys. I like them (“Bubbles” no longer looks like he’s leaning on a wall to take a dump) but I’d rather lose the black (a vestige of the Matt Millen era) and go with a logo and helmet that resemble that of the Michigan Panthers (the last champion pro football team Detroit ever had). Also lose the Honolulu blue (sorry, Mr. Ford) and use the same hue of blue seen on cans of Stroh’s beer in the ’90s.
Minnesota - Using a deeper purple: good idea. Making the horn on the helmet look more three-dimensional: better idea. The unis: lousy execution.
Chicago - Don’t wear orange. Do stick with what you’ve worn through the last, what, 40 years?
Green Bay - Don’t change a thing.

NFC South
Atlanta - My biggest disagreement with Kevin resides here. The current logo looks like a falcon swooping in for the kill. The previous one looked like it had rigor mortis.
Carolina - OK. The uniform designs are conservative enough that at least they don’t look like WLAF, XFL or Arena Football.
New Orleans - What I would have done: 1. Go back to the unis they were wearing in late ’80s (the Bobby Hebert/Jim Mora era). 2. Change the white numerals on the home jersey to old gold and the black numerals on the road jersey to old gold.
Tampa Bay - The Bucs did a lot of things right, from losing the Creamsicle color scheme to adding pewter helmets and pants… and their recent success serves to affirm that they did it right.

NFC West
San Francisco - Ditch the burgundy for the scarlet of the Joe Montana era.
St. Louis - I agree with Kevin, ditching the yellow gold for old gold was great. One more tweak I wonder about: Is there a way to make the horns look more three-dimensional?
Seattle - They went from a pathetic design that looked like it was drawn by a middle school student to one that had identity in more ways than one (a color scheme more in line with the Pacific Northwest and a mean-looking Seahawk head instead of the old sad-looking one). This is one team that I wish would stop wearing unitards!
Arizona - The new helmet logo and home unis look great. The cardinal shoulders on the road jerseys, again, look like a CFL team.

John:

Complete joke. Anyone who thinks that Minnesota and Mississippi are “pre-eminent” is beyond hope of saving. And just for the record, Jacksonville uses teal, not blue. Don’t bash a team’s uniform if you’re not going to bother getting the color right.

April 14, 2009

URAQT:

I dont understand why the teal tongue on the Jags logo bothers everybody so much. I mean, so what if it isnt realistic, look at some of the other logos; A Lion isnt blue, a bull doesnt have a star for an eye, a ram doesnt have gold horns, a Dolphin isnt green, and both the raiders and pats logos have silver skin. I havent met too many people with a silver complexion. So why is it sooooo important that the Jag’s logo have the right color tongue?

Complete joke. Anyone who thinks that Minnesota and Mississippi are “pre-eminent” is beyond hope of saving. And just for the record, Jacksonville uses teal, not blue. Don’t bash a team’s uniform if you’re not going to bother getting the color right.

Cosnor:

AFC East
New England - get rid of the current silver & blue atrocity & revert back to the classic red & white uniform with the hiking Patriot on the helmet
Miami - wear the orange unis more often or how about white jerseys w/teal pants? And although the dolphin can stay, can we remove the dolphin hoop? This isn’t Sea World, you know - it’s an NFL team!
NY Jets - dark green helmets with an actual jet (wow, what a concept!) as a logo would be a welcome change
Buffalo - go back to the basic dark blue jerseys & white pants. Old white helmet with red buffalo, too. Their current uni is too jumbled & hurts the eyes if you stare at it for more than one nanosecond

AFC North
Pittsburgh - revive the 70s font on the jerseys & change the pants to white with a black stripe for both home & road. Leave the logo as is - and do NOT put it on both sides of the helmet - alt unis & helmets are ok if used sparingly
Cleveland - brown jerseys with orange pants for home. And put a darn logo on the helmet already! It’s not 1940 anymore!
Baltimore - unis ok as is; love the rounded numbers! Too bad you can’t go back to the original “stolen” logo
Cincinnati - unis ok, but how about orange stripes on a black helmet or a friggin’ tiger on a black helmet already?

AFC South
Indianapolis - don’t mess with the classic blue & white unis, but can we get an actual colt on the helmet, similar to the old logo? How ‘bout a white colt on blue helmet? That ugly horseshoe makes it look as though the players got kicked in the side of the head!
Houston - unis fine, but change the team’s name! What’s next? The Los Angeles Angelinos or the New Mexico New Mexicans? Surely, the owners could come up with something better than the Texans.
Jacksonville - a sharp, eye-catching uni as is; wouldn’t change a thing
Tennessee - a pro men’s team should NOT wear light blue. Not intimidating at all. And get rid of that awful eyesore of a helmet! Ugly ugly ugly! It reminds me of a gigantic thumbtack!

AFC West
San Diego - again, real men should NOT wear powder blue (hint: MLB’s Royals?) Get rid of the yellow altogether & change your colors to dark blue & silver. Plus, dark blue helmets w/silver bolts. Now, THAT would be cool!
Denver - Bring back the Orange Crush unis! The current horse logo is terrible & the unis really hurt the eyes. And those curved swooshes on the pants make me want to vomit. I feel like I’m spinning in a whirlpool when I look at them.

Kansas City - Keep the red jerseys, but opt for bronze pants.

Oakland - Silver & black are cool colors sends a powerful statement, but please lose that fat chinned silver dude on the helmets. How many people do you know have silver skin (at least here on earth?). He looks so fruity. How about a black helmet with a silver sword capped by a lightning bolt at the tip?

NFC East
Dallas - Unis are fine - even the throwback, but hell with tradition & wear those dark blue jerseys more often. Those are really nice jerseys & they blend in nicely with the silver pants.
Washington - ok as is, although the feather helmet was way cooler.
NY Giants - Blue & white - those are your colors, got it? Not red & silver. And those helmets are soooooooooo boring. Even the former Giants logo helmets left much to be desired. Go with a mean-looking giant’s face instead. Re-invent, people, re-invent!
Philadelphia - ditch the green helmets and re-adopt the classic white w/green wings or maybe even a scary-looking eagle’s face.

NFC North
Detroit - like the new logo, esp the lion’s teeth, main & eye. Blue & silver are the right colors for this team - but lose the black piping on the unis. However, I like the black facemasks - keep ‘em.
Minnesota - go back to the simple purple & white unis of the Jim Marshall & Carl Eller era. Purple never looked so intimidating!

Chicago - this team’s garbs need a whole new overhaul. A SLIGHTLY lighter shade of blue & lose those orange stripes on the sleeves. Just blue. White pants w/orange stripes down the legs. Lighter blue helmet with a ferocious black grizzly bear on the sides! Oooohhh! That orange “C” logo is soooo scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please!

Green Bay - thumbs up on tradition; don’t change a thing!

NFC South
Atlanta - Liked the old red unis & helmets. Enough teams have black already! It’s being overdone! Go back to the red, but have a meaner-looking falcon on the helmets.
Carolina - no tweaking of their unis needed.
Great color scheme. Sharp blending.
New Orleans - I’d only change the helmets. Reverse the colors - bronze logo on black helmets.
Tampa Bay - current unis are ok, but I favor the old orange jerseys anyday. Although dump the gay Pirate on the helmet. A tattered black buccaneer flag on a white helmet would look awesome!

NFC West
San Francisco - Revert back to the Joe Montana era - but instead of copper pants, how ‘bout just white?
St. Louis - reclaim the original blue & white unis & helmets. Merlin Olsen, where are you?
Seattle - enought w/the one-color schemes! Utilize basic teal jerseys w/white pants & teal helmets. And get a real a$$-kickin’ bird on the side so that your rivals know that you mean business!
Arizona - use the basic red & white classic unis, but change the helmets to red with a black-outlined red cardinal (what other color are they?). Just make sure the cardinal looks has some scary-looking muscles - like he’s pumped up on steroids!
